This course is perfect for those who want to become more confident in the mountains during winter months in regards to the hazards that avalanches pose and applies to all types of travel in mountainous terrain, be it on skis, snowboards, snowshoes, or snowmobiles. We provide you with the traditional and digital tools necessary to plan and execute safe trips in backcountry terrain during the winter. You will also gain the skills and methods associated with buddy rescue and first aid. On this course, we will be using ski touring skis or splitboards.

The location of the course will be dependent on snow and weather conditions but will be no more than 1 hours drive from Ålesund.

Nyttig info

This course is suitable for those who want to learn more about avalanches to make safer choices in the winter mountains. The course is suitable for those who have done some backcountry skiing before, as well as those who have several years of backcountry skiing but never paid attention to the dangers of avalanches or relied on others to make decisions. Knowledge of avalanches, snow conditions, and buddy rescue is a skill that needs to be practiced, and everyone who travels in steep terrain should be confident in basic avalanche knowledge and buddy rescue. A basic avalanche course can therefore both provide new knowledge or refresh rusty skills! The age limit for the course is 15 years, and participants under 18 must document written consent of parents. Are you unsure if the course is right for you? Contact us for a chat.
