Weekend hut-to-hut trekking

Our weekend wander is a personal and tailored 3-day hut-to-hut, all-inclusive, backpacking trip where we stay in huts where we sleep in beds and can cook food using the self-service pantry in each hut. This means we don't need to pack more than a daypack with toiletries and a sleeping liner. Light packs and distances around 10-15km allow us to really enjoy our daily hikes between the huts.

We have planned this hike as a loop, so we start and end the same in basically the same place but never have to walk the same distances again. From lush valleys to the high alpine, the highest hut we sleep in is located 1400 meters above sea level with views of glaciers!

This hike is featured in the German outdoor magazine - Read full article here.

We need to take caution for the wild reindeer as not to disturb them and their migratory routes.

The guide will always put the group's safety as a priority. This means that weather, wind, and other conditions will always provide guidance as to whether the planned route can be completed or not. Should the weather be too bad, we as the organizer will cancel, and you will be offered to move the trip or a full refund. Remember to read through our booking conditions and safety rules as this is automatically part of the agreement when you book a trip.

DAG-FOR-DAG Program

We meet at our base in Tafjord harbor at 9.00 in the morning, introduce ourselves, and look at our intended route for the 3 days on a map. We go through the packing list and make sure we have what we need. Afterward, we drive up to the trailhead a bit up the valley. From here we hike the 7km into Reindalseter, passing the majestic Reindal waterfall on our way.

Once we get to Reindalseter everyone is appointed to their room and the guide will prepare dinner for the group. If the hut is staffed at the time (summers only) then it is possible for an extra fee to get a locally sourced homecooked dinner from the hut hosts. Otherwise, the guide prepares dinner and breakfast at the huts each day.

This is our longest day with 13km and about 700 meters of elevation gain. We leave the lush valley and travel up into the alpine. Today's hut is located at 1400 meters above sea level! This hut was partially funded by the Danish trekking association and therefore has the name "Danskehytta", roughly translated to "The Danes hut". This hut is self-service all year so here the guide will handle meal preparations.

The views from the hut are amazing. We can't wait for you to see it!

Our last day, however since we are starting from 1400 meters above sea level we will be descending for the whole 10km down a valley. Slowly leaving the alpine and eventually down into a lush birch forest and eventually the Rødalseter lake. From here we get picked up and drive the short 5-minute drive to our cars at the other trailhead where we started.
