HIGHLIGHTS

  • The glacier experience!
  • Glacier movement and knowledge
  • Exploration of glacier crevasses

Glacier hikes have at Sunnmøre is not a very know product due to our glaciers remote locations. However, we know a glacier in the heart of the Sunnmøre Alps which is only 6km and 500 meters of elevation from the parking lot. The hike to the glacier is in it self worth the tour! We meet in the town of Urke by Norangsfjorden, and drive a graveled road up Langesæterdalen parking. From here we proceed on foot on the trail past Langesætra and to Gullmors glacier. The glacier is located at the north side of the famous mountain Store Brekketind. At the edge of the glacier we put on crampons and tie-in to the guide's rope and go out on the glacier. On the glacier we will walk a round trip, walking along glacier crevasses and explore them if the conditions let us. We will depart the glacier at the base of Mt. Brunstadhornet and return back down to our cars. On the glacier, we explore glacier cracks/crevasses and learn about glaciers and their importance to us humans, and if we´re lucky, we can hear the sounds of the glacier slowly moving at the base of the mountain.
